I've only been using Revit for about 4 months, but am already pretty impressed with the results.

Yes, I agree the contractor doesn't care how the drawings are delivered, but it makes it a helluva a lot more efficient in the long run to go down the BIM road. It's like any other software, push yourself through the learning curve and you'll be glad you did.
